I hope everyone had a good Christmas. I hate Christmas! I think that it starts way too early these days and by the time Dec 25 arrives I'm sick of it. It seems that no sooner are we back from our summer holidays than we begin being bombarded with Cards, Tinsel and various bods who'll lend us the money to pay for it all! The worry about whether everyone will like their presents, have I still got the receipt in case they don't, do I really care?
The madness that is the Christmas food shop... People seem to think that once the shops close on Christmas Eve that there's a strong likelihood that they'll never reopen, everyone goes into panic mode, you get shoved and jostled this way and that, trampled at the checkouts for a shorter queue, kids are whingeing in trolleys because they rarely ever want to go shopping let alone shopping in the madness just before Christmas. Then there's the groups of people that congregate in the middle of the aisles chatting to people that they wouldn't normally offer more than a nod of acknowledgement to but, hey it's Christmas!
Then there's the "must have" presents, you know the ones you can never get hold of! Someone, somewhere is having a laugh! It sure isn't me!
Next stage is to once again brave the shops and the potential threat of permanent retail denial in order to stock up for New Year just in case! Why do I get caught up in all of this? Because I'm mad! and of course if I don't get there early you just may pip me at the checkouts!!!
